Tips for Travel Planning

by Jeffrey Woolf on November 18, 2009

Those of us who’ve traveled abroad have a standard procedure for preparing. There’s a real rhythm to it:

Picture of Checklist

  • Check that passports are valid.
  • Suspend newspaper delivery.
  • Set the Shabbat timers to go on and off daily.
  • Get a SIM card that will work overseas.
  • Check the weather report for your planned destinations.
  • Drag out the suitcases.
  • Pack for three months even if you’re going for 10 days. (Oops. I’ll deal with that another time.)
  • Make sure to get to the airport on time.
  • Let the tour organizer take over once you’ve cleared security.

Okay, very nice. But what about doing your homework?

Homework? Yes, homework.

At Deluxe Kosher Tours we make every effort to provide all the personal conveniences so that your trip with us is both memorable and relaxing. Our itineraries are carefully planned to make sure that you get the most out of your stay. Our guides (both the tour manager and the local guides) are the most knowledgeable people we could find to reveal the inner and outer beauty of your destinations.

However, your touring will be more satisfying if you study up a bit about the places that you’re going to see. There may be things you want pointed out that the guides didn’t think would interest their guests. Who knows?

In addition, everyone has special interests. That’s what free time is for. True, our programs are full. There is, though, time set aside for you to wander to sites that we just couldn’t get to as a group.
