At Deluxe Kosher Tours we are very proud that we are able to take many of the hassles out of traveling abroad. An English-speaking guide accompanies you for the entire duration of your trip from the very moment you arrive at your destination.
And, of course, you have our delicious, strictly kosher meals to look forward to as well. We have planned everything carefully, with the greatest attention to detail, to ensure that you have the memorable and exciting vacation overseas that you have always dreamed of.
Now despite our tremendous attention to detail, there are some things that we can’t do for you! Here is a checklist of things to do while preparing for your Deluxe Kosher Tours Trip:
(1) Strategically pack
It will work in your favor to pack as lightly as you can. This way you are less likely to get tired and set your luggage down, leaving it unattended. You may wish to invest in a money belt or a sturdy shoulder strap bag that you can wear across your chest, as this is a much safer alternative to a fanny pack or a purse.
Definitely bring a camera- you’ll want to document your adventures! However, be aware that you may not be able to take photos of places such as police and military installations, government buildings, border areas, and transportation facilities. If you’re ever in doubt, just ask before snapping a photo.
If you take medications, make sure that all of them are very clearly labeled, as this will ease you through the customs process. You may wish to also carry a written letter from your doctor that attests to your need to take the drugs you are carrying.
Do not bring any very expensive-looking jewelry with you, or any irreplaceable family objects or heirlooms. Empty your wallet of all non-essential objects such as your library card. If you usually carry your social security card, make sure you take that out, too. Lastly, remove any credit cards you will not be using. You will also want to get traveler’s checks from the bank, and plan to carry these rather than cash.
(2) Do the necessary paperwork
If you don’t already have a passport, you’ll need one! If you do have one, make sure it is valid (it has not expired). If your name has changed, you’ll need to get a new one. Don’t worry; it’s not terribly difficult or expensive to get a passport. You can visit the USPS website for more details: http://www.usps.com/passport/
Make two photocopies of your passport’s identification page, airline tickets, driver’s license, and the credit cards that you plan to bring with you. Leave one photocopy of this data with a family member or a friend at home. Pack the other copies with you in a place that is separate from where you carry the originals. Also, make sure to leave this same friend or family member with a copy of your itinerary in case of emergency.
(3) Read up on your destination
By now you’ve surely noticed the great articles that are posted here on the Deluxe Kosher Tours blog. These are a great way for you to learn about the customs, culture, and tourist destinations of other countries.
In addition, you should also educate yourself about the climate of your destination so that you may pack the most appropriate apparel.
The Department of State’s website has country specific information available for every country in the entire world! The site describes entry requirements, currency regulations, unusual health conditions, the crime and security situation, political disturbances, areas of instability, and special information about driving and road conditions.
The site also provides addresses and emergency telephone numbers for U.S. embassies and consulates. To access this information, click here: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html
(4) Get ready to have the time of your life
Many people get nervous about traveling overseas, and you know what? It is a shame that this prevents them from the incomparable experience of traveling the world.
Kosher Deluxe Tours was created specifically because I wanted to share my love of traveling the world with others. I am confident that you will have many amazing stories to share upon your return home.
